Something to do with an update manager kernel, whatever that is.

AVG Free is an open source antivirus and anti-spyware software that guards the PC from threats that can harm the system.

The user can update this software; however, the update process may fail and it may show an error message such as, connection with update server failed.

If none of these work, then the issue may be due to a file that has to be deleted following which, the update must be restarted.

However, users with an existing license can still upgrade for free as long as their existing license is still active.

same thing here 6 diferent systems on three diferent networks all having the same issues one network has 10 systems on it and 3 of them will not update except for offline updates.

the offline update fixed 2 ( originally 5 out of 10 would not update online) one of the systems which will not update is a fresh OS load Usually when you cannot connect to the server, it is either temporarily down or its usage is at capacity.
